Cayman beats Curacao 6-0, tops Group A

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – The Cayman Islands Girls National team gave the local fans a treat Sunday night overcoming Curacao 6-0 at a rain soaked Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

Striker Chelsea Green scored two goals in the 20th and 22nd minutes taking her tally to six and picked up a third Player of the Match accolade.

Halle Medina sent the almost 1700 fans into rapture when she opened the score in the 2nd minute. Jasmine Powery doubled the lead in the 19th. 

Green then scored two quick goals, to take the game away from Curacao and confirm Cayman’s spot at the top of the Group A standings

Two own goals (29th, 56th) hurt Curacao’s chances of a comeback in slippery conditions.

Cayman and the Bahamas advance to the quarterfinals from Group A.
